Pervasive computing applications present some conflicting requirements as security and accessibility. As a matter of fact, the accessibility level can be improved by multimodal systems that can ease the access to people without technological ability or to people with physical disabilities. As a result, multimodal interaction offers users the freedom to select from multiple modes of interaction with services and permits to break down barriers about human-computer interaction making communication intuitive and spontaneous. On the other hand, security reasons require that the environment be able to protect itself from malicious attacks and/or from wrong actions performed by inexpert users.
The objective of the workshop is to give the state of the art, and to propose new methods, techniques and approaches for enhancing both the security and the accessibility characteristics of pervasive computing applications.
